These homemade Sloppy Joe Sliders were better than any I’ve ever had. So easy, you’ll never buy the canned stuff again!
Sloppy Joe Sliders
Joe loves a good sloppy joe but I’ve never been a big fan so we don’t have it very often. I didn’t eat them growing up so it was a fairly new concept to me when we met. He liked the stuff from the can just fine but I wasn’t impressed so when I saw this homemade Sloppy Joe in my Pinterest feed from Tastes Better From Scratch I knew I had to try it.
This wasn’t much harder than making the stuff from the can. The ingredients were also nice and simple but still offered some great flavors so I was excited to see how it would turn out.
I started by throwing the meat, onions, garlic and a little salt in a skillet on the stove.
Once it was browned and the garlic and onions had softened up, I drained off the excess oil, put the meat back in the pan and dumped everything else in.
I got it all simmering and kept half an eye on it while I played some Candy Crush, stirring between rounds for half an hour while it thickened up and the flavors melded together.
I decided that this was the perfect way to test some slider rolls from the store so I loaded up them up and hollered for Joe. I got a little carried away and added a bit too much of the filling. I wasn’t too worried about it since, by definition, they’re supposed to be sloppy, right?
I was really happy with how these turned out, they had real flavor and I like that. I didn’t dice the celery as fine as I should have, it was a little chunky and Joe complained about that a little. Since that was the only thing he wasn’t happy about I consider this an absolute success and suggest you give this a try next time you get the craving for a Sloppy Joe!

They are definitely worth the tiny bit of extra effort, so much yummier than the stuff from the can.
